The Cantonal Police of Basel-Stadt is responsible for issuing the police regulations for the Basel Carnival. For safety reasons, the Fasnacht Committee asks all active participants and visitors to comply with these regulations.
The Carnival Committee publishes updated carnival regulations every year. In addition to safety issues, these regulations also govern organizational procedures - before, during, and after carnival.
The Traffic Commission is made up of representatives of the groups taking part in the Cortège and three members of the Fasnacht Committee. Its main task is to plan the places and times at which the formations march off for Cortège on Monday and Wednesday. It is also involved in the presidents' conference.
